Athens Photo World 2019

Athens Photo World er et nytt initiativ i år, dedikert til minnet om den greske fotojournalisten og Reuters-fotografen Yannis Behrakis, som døde tidligere i år. Samtidig inviteres profesjonelle fotografer til å levere bidrag til Yannis Behrakis International Photojournalism Award, som vil bli en årlig utdeling. Vinneren får en premie på hele € 15.000 (ca. 145.000 norske kroner).

Fotofestivalen Athens Photo World 2019 gikk av stabelen i juni, men utstillingen «Eyewitness» henger til og med 31. august. Utstillingen er dedikert til Yannis Behrakis’ 30 år som fotojournalist og ledsages av videoer om og med Behrakis som belyser hans lange karriere som fotograf. Er du i Athen, kan du finne utstillingen i Det greske nasjonalbiblioteket i Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center.

Samtidig utlyses, sent på grunn av at årets festival var første gang, konkurransen om Yannis Behrakis International Photojournalism Award for 2019. Prisen gis til et ferdig reportasje- eller dokumentarprosjekt, laget i løpet av de siste 3 årene. Det er profesjonelle fotografer som kan delta, og innleveringsfristen er 25. august i år.
